Revolutionary Road, a review.

This was, by far, my favorite movie that has come out in 2008 and 2009, so far at least. Yes it is depressing and extremely horrifying, as a friend described it, a 3 hour fight between two people, but how Sam Mendes captured it made it extremely magnificent to watch.
Not only does this movie have two of the best looking and best in all actors in it, but the supporting cast was also magnificent. Michael Shannon (the neighbor's bipolar son) created one of the best scenes in any movie (apart from Sean Penn finding out his daughter died in Mystic River). When he is fighting with Frank Wheeler but the screen simply focuses on April, I at least, was extremely amazed at the perfection. How she is completely set aside and fought for. She, just sits there her anger stirring up in her, holding that cigarette in hand, ahhhh. That was beautiful, plus it made me want to become a smoker (i know, not a good thing.)
Another scene that struck me as the perfect mix of great acting, costume, cinematography, and directing, was the first scene Frank Wheeler is going to work. When he descends the steps at Penn Station and we see him in center followed by this multitude of identical looking men, all coming down on us (due to a low camera angle) it made it for a slap on our face to how his life is and why he hates it. The whole scene is a killer, we feel suffocated with him, but we also see the weight of it, and how heavy it is to take off.
This movie was beautiful, each scene was constructed with detail and care, every moment lends itself into the mood of the film, ever cigarette drag, look, hug, and movement gives the movie the mood that allows us to leave the film shocked. This movie is an example of great filmmaking and you can see Mendes's and the Crew's love for their art. Good Job. The Oscar's greatest snub.
R.I.P Natasha Richardson.
You were an incredible actress and mother, i pray for your family through these hard times.
With the world seemingly focused on the oncoming death of Jade Goody, yours came out of left field, but was no less felt. You will be a missed talent.

I just came back from paradise on earth. Trancoso, Bahia, Brasil.
Absolutely stunning beaches, people and food especially. I saw indigenous people carrying around sloths (the lazy monkeys right?), beaches completely isolated for kilometers (we are in brasil) and the spirit of the people. They, there, are so optimistic. The heat makes life move slower for them i guess. But they all try to prevent their land from being taken from them by atlantis like resorts. They think about their environment and their impact on it. This land was stunning, proof that God exists, because honestly things dont mesh that well with a bang. The best thing is to listen to the break of the waves with your ears under water. Calming.
Plus I met a versace and an ex- victoria's secret model. Not bad.

OH MY GOSHHH
i was on facebook recently, and came across a teacher's profile that i could look into...
oh wow, the secret door to teachers' lives was opened, there they were with beer, tequila shots. partying, hard. Hey, i dont disagree, just strange to see your math teacher in a much different light than the one emitted from the smart board.

THE PICTURE THAT (might have) DELETED MY FACEBOOK.

--Bruce Weber
Ahhh...
I'm 18, and I'm in Brasil right now, casually ordering Caipi-Vodka's sweetened with real sugar, i'm always scared they'll look at me as if I'm snobby if i order fake sweeteners. But there, the freedom in drowning three cups of Smirnoff Red down your throat with strawberries, just to return to a country that condemns it. Hey, at least i enjoy it a couple of months of the year. But oh so i miss it. I do wonder, on the plane, am i allowed, what is the "air" age for drinking. Should i attempt, i will and will tell you next time what comes up.
